A special effects arm from a Makhai demon, used in the production of the mythological action adventure Wrath of the Titans. Living as a fisherman with his son, Perseus (Sam Worthington), son of Zeus (Liam Neeson), is called to action once again as the ancient Titan, Kronos, threatens the life of the gods as well as those of the men on Earth.
The Makhai, creatures acting as the tortured spirits of warfare, are first seen when Zeus is captured in Tartarus before being sent out to attack the forces of Andromeda (Rosamund Pike) during the final battle with Kronos. Massive beasts made with the torsos and heads of two giants, are deadly to even the most skilled of warriors. The creatures used a blend of CGI and practical effects for the creatures, helping to make the creatures look realistic during the dramatic battles at the film’s climax, with this arm used to help bring the massive demons to life.
Made of dense foam with metal coring for stability and mounts allowing them to be mounted to large effects rigs, the massive arm features cracked, blackened skin with large fissures revealing muscles and veins pumping with molten magma. The arm contains an electromagnet at the wrist with wires running out of the shoulder, allowing the sword hand to disconnect as part of a combat effects gag when power was severed and making the hand appear as though it has been cut off. The magnets have been tested and function with a 15v DC power supply, which is not included. The huge sword hand wields a brutal-looking blade, warped and corroded over time and black from the ash billowing within Tartarus.
Well used on the production, the arm and sword hand both remain in very good production-used condition. The piece measures approximately 200cm x 40cm x 20cm (78.75" x 50.75" x 8") when the magnet is activated.
