In 1998, Prop Store founder Stephen Lane’s love for movies led him to begin hunting for the same props and costumes that were used to create his favourite films. He found that he could not only provide collectors with access to their most coveted pieces, but also establish archival standards for this new, pop-culture hybrid of fine art and memorabilia collecting—prop art.
Once Stephen assembled his dream team of like-minded movie fanatics, Prop Store set out like a band of movie archaeologists, looking to locate, research and preserve the treasure troves of important artifacts that hid in dark, sometimes forgotten corners all over the world.
Now, more than eighteen years later, the prop hobby and Prop Store are thriving. With over thirty employees between our offices in London and Los Angeles and over 25,000 combined square feet of archived props and costumes, we’ve become the busiest and most trusted authority in the hobby.
Thinking of starting your own collection? Give us a call or e-mail and we’ll arrange a tour through one of our incredible galleries so that you can see the limitless possibilities that await.
The reality of owning an authentic prop or costume from your favourite movie could be just a call or click away…
Meet the Prop Store team:
Chief Executive Officer
The founder of The Prop Store of London, Stephen became interested in movie memorabilia while his previous sign-making company was working as a contractor on the sets of Eyes Wide Shut.
Stephen began networking with Industry technicians and found his first few treasures, which led him to pursue Prop Store as a full time business. At that time, no one in the UK was selling this type of memorabilia as a full-time operation.
Stephen has been a steady pioneer in the industry, constantly developing and evolving the business and constantly trying fresh initiatives. He has located some of the most significant caches of film memorabilia of the past decade and both his personal and company collections reflect this- they are amongst the finest in the world.

Tim was The Prop Store’s first employee, and has been collecting since 1987.
He has witnessed amazing changes in the collecting industry over those two decades, both in the way these assets are sold and the prices they achieve.
In the early 90s Tim would make regular trips from London to Los Angeles to scout for new material for his own collection, and to trade out material he had sourced in the UK. Tim forged a massive network of collectors during this pre-Internet age when connecting with people interested in a niche market was very difficult. He retains many of these connections today, and they are a constant ace in Prop Store’s hand.

Learning a great deal from creating these amateur films, he later moved to Los Angeles to pursue a more artistic environment.
After moving to Los Angeles, Mike quickly began working in theater, and found the live stage exhilarating.
