Miniature Ursa (Sarah Douglas) flying model masks from Richard Lester’s 1980 superhero sequel Superman II.

Superman (Christopher Reeve) agrees to sacrifice his powers so he can lead a normal life and start a relationship with Lois Lane (Margot Kidder). Little does he know, three Kryptonian criminals have been released and are trying to conquer Earth.

These masks were made for Zod’s henchwoman Ursa, and were made to be interchangeable between the miniature flying figures so that when one had been specially mounted on the flying rig the faces could be changed without disrupting the rest of the rig. Made by the legendary Stuart Freeborn from rubber, one of the faces has been carefully painted with a good likeness to Douglas, with the other mask remaining unfinished.

Remaining in overall fair condition for their age, the two faces have been custom framed with a laser-cut mount board featuring the film’s title artwork, stills from the film and an opening front panel allowing direct access to the pieces.
