A sealed envelope from the production of Tomas Alfredson’s 2017 crime thriller The Snowman.

Based on Jo Nesbø’s novel of the same name, it follows the story of Detective Harry Hole as he investigates the identity of a serial killer who uses ominous-looking snowmen as his calling card.

A blue envelope like this one appeared in an early scene where Harry was given a large stack of missed mail in the café – the letter was on the top. The envelope appeared in Harry’s possession later when investigating the disappearance of Britte Becker (Genevieve O’Reilly), in his car and when seated at his kitchen table.

The letter is addressed to Harry at the Oslo police department in stylised handwriting. A Norwegian Thor Heyordahl Kon-Tiki stamp is affixed to the envelope. This is one of several made for production - this allowed for multiple shots to be taken and ensured seamless continuity.

Showing minor wear from use during production, the sealed letter remains in very good condition.
