An evidence photograph from the production of Tomas Alfredson’s 2017 crime thriller The Snowman.
Based on Jo Nesbø’s novel of the same name, it follows the story of Detective Harry Hole (Michael Fassbender) as he investigates the identity of a serial killer who uses ominous-looking snowmen as his calling card.
Harry held this image while seated at his dining room table following the murder of Britte Becker (Genevieve O’Reilly) – this is one of several copies of the murder scene made for production. The colour A4 photograph depicts the victim as discovered by Rafto (Val Kilmer), taken from an oblique overhead perspective and showing the dismembered, fully-clothed body lying face down in the snow. Yellow police evidence number tags and scale markers are positioned next to each piece. On the reverse is a stamp reading ‘Property of Bergen Police Department’, with a printed blue signature.
Displaying minor folds and creases from handling during production, the photograph remains in very good condition.
