An Ape Soldier Mask worn in Tim Burton's remake of the sci-fi classic, Planet of the Apes. When astronaut Captain Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) crash lands on a strange planet, he quickly becomes enslaved by an advanced species of primates that loath humans. This mask was worn by Dennis Keifer, a stuntman who portrayed one of the armored ape soldiers on horseback during the film's climactic final battle.
Made from foam latex, this delicate mask features realistic hand punched hair and resembles a gorilla. The mask has both of it's eyes cut out, with holes for breathing, and rests with the mouth slightly agape, baring its teeth. Inside the mask are two nylon straps with a quick slide buckle, allow the piece to be attached to the stuntman's head. There is also a large strip of tape with "Dennis Keifer" written in black ink.
Due to production use and age, the foam latex has begun to crack, with several areas showing wear (see photos). Aside from it's fragile state, this item remains in good condition.
