A custom-made ape armor costume display from Tim Burton's sci-fi remake Planet of the Apes. Hyper-intelligent ape soldiers wore their signature armor when they hunted for escaped humans throughout the film.

This lot consists of a fiberglass helmet, breastplate, and shin guards with metal chainmail detailing, all painted dark red; a latex ape mask with synthetic hand-punched hair and resin and acrylic eyes; a wool-spandex blend leotard with leather sleeves; faux fur-covered spandex gloves with latex fingers; leather and threaded wooden sticks applied over the legs; wool-spandex blend leggings applied with faux fur; and a pair of ape shoes with molded urethane toes and faux fur. The set comes mounted to a custom-made ape mannequin affixed through the feet to a foam display base labeled "Planet of the Apes." Also included is a leather and foam bolas throwing weapon with braided rope. The display exhibits hardening to the latex gloves and toes due to age, loose threading along the arms from production wear, and scuffing from handling.
