A Gotham City Rooftop Miniature from the 1992 Tim Burton superhero action sequel, Batman Returns. This time around, Bruce Wayne/Batman (Michael Keaton) must face off against the Penguin (Danny DeVito), who has his own version of corrupt politics while Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer) stirs up acrobatic mayhem.
This is one of the snowy rooftops that appears in the Gotham City skyline. It is made from a variety of materials, with the main structure being plywood. The roofing slats are made from strips of sandpaper that have been painted grey. On top of the roof are several chimney's which are made from sheet plastic. Another clever use of materials is the snow, which is made from spackling paste. Careful attention to the stairwell door will note a painted star with the name, 'A. Furst.' This is a shout out to Anton Furst, who served as production designer on the first Tim Burton, Batman. This door also features a tiny light-bulb that has been tested to work with a 9 Volt battery. The roof also has two skylights that used to be lit from below during filming. Please note that due to production use and age, there is some wear to this item. There is a small break in the paint on the rooftop and two square shaped holes in the snow, which indicates that there used to be additional chimneys (see photos). Regardless, this item has held up extraordinarily well throughout the years!
This item measures approximately 34.5" x 18" x 24" (88cm x 46cm x 61cm) and is in very good condition.
