A set of hand-drawn production storyboards and printed character designs used in the creation of the "Boy-Sil" reveal sequence for the erotic sci-fi horror Species. A message from outer space gives humanity the code needed to create a human-alien hybrid. But when their creation, Sil (Natasha Henstridge), reaches puberty, the docile human turns into a sex-driven beast looking for one thing - to reproduce.
Acquired from the collection of visual effects guru Richard Edlund, this set of artwork pages detail the scene involving the "Boy-Sil" seen after Sil gives birth in the caves. The creature adds extra danger for Dr Laura Baker (Marg Helgenberger) and Press Lennox (Michael Madsen) as they sought to save the human race from the alien hybrids.

The storyboards are three panels on a single page, accompanied by a head study of the creature (believed to have been illustrated by designer John Mann), all of which are drawn in inks on white US Legal paper, with various creature designs printed in black and white showing the evolution of the character. All of the pages feature the Boss Films stamp, indicating their use by the special effects and visual effects teams for the production. Displaying some wear from its time in use on the 1994 production, the set remains in good production-used condition.
