A prototype visor used in the production of Bryan Singer’s comic book adaptation X-Men. As the struggle for equal rights for mutants rages around the globe, the young mutant Marie (Anna Paquin) and the feral Logan (Hugh Jackman) must choose their side in the coming conflict: the path of peace with Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart) or the path of war, and the hateful Magneto (Ian McKellen).
This prototype visor was created during the development of costumes for the X-Men’s field commander Cyclops (James Marsden). The visor is cast in resin mixed with aluminium powder to give it a fine metallic finish when sanded and a metallic red insert has been added in the eye slit that is see-through from the wearer’s side. One of the recesses on the left side of the visor has been filled, likely to bring it closer to the look of the final visors.

Offered in an unfinished state, there are cracks in the visor’s frame are present at the nose and near the right eye and while some sanding has taken place, the piece has had no final paint finish applied. However, in spite of the aforementioned wear, the piece remains in overall good condition.
