A rare animation cell used in the Bob Hoskins classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the pioneering film which combined animation with live action to create an outstanding movie. The cell consists of six layers that combine to make an incredible image, starting with a black and white background shot of a van, and then each subsequent layer features a different member of the Toon Patrol painted on the back of cell, finishing with the leader at the front.
These great pieces are made on specially created animation acetate with rectangular and round holes to ensure absolutely no slippage during the animation, and have each been labelled for their relevant scene and layer. Incredibly the top cell has a white “Walt Disney Company Certified” stamp top right dictating its provenance. A stunning set from the movie demonstrating just how much effort went into a single moment of this groundbreaking movie.
