A Swiss army knife and chair back used in the production of the Tony Scott romantic crime film True Romance. After marrying the hooker Alabama (Patricia Arquette), store clerk Clarence (Christian Slater) kills her pimp and accidentally steals a suitcase full of cocaine. With gangster Vincenzo Coccotti (Christopher Walken) on their tail, they head for Los Angeles, causing trouble every step of the way.
Acquired from the propmaster on the film, this knife can be seen being used by Alabama in a fight with the gangster Virgil (James Gandolfini). Made with a fixed corkscrew protruding from the knife’s body to prevent it accidentally closing on Arquette’s hand, the knife has a dinosaur keyring attached on a chain, and still has traces of theatrical blood on both the knife and the key ring from use in the brutal fight sequence. Several of the knives made for this scene had their corkscrew heads destroyed as a result of Arquette’s heavy blows on-set, which were landed at Gandolfini’s request, making this piece all the rarer.

Also included is an original chair back from the production, used on one of the make-up chairs that will have occupied the set. Made of pink canvas with holes for the chair’s back poles, the chair back features the True Romance logo and the text “Make-up” in red.

Both the knife and the chair back remain in a very good production-used condition with only minor wear from use on set and time spent in storage. The knife measures 10cm (4”) long while the chair back measures approximately 57cm x 17cm (22.5” x 6.75”).
