A hand-drawn Mariano Diaz sketch of Helen of Troy’s (Diane Kruger) court robe from the production of Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 mythical epic Troy. The ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta did battle to control the Aegean Sea, their war sparked by Helen’s departure from Sparta with Paris (Orlando Bloom).

The costume was designed by Academy Award®-nominated costume designer Bob Ringwood and rendered by Diaz in graphite on thin layout paper. Labelled ‘46’, this costume design concept depicts Helen dressed lasciviously in a flowing, floor-length dress with multiple arm straps, embellished shoulder drapes and tassels. Completing the ensemble are a bejewelled pendant necklace, finger bracelets and an ornate headdress with a beaded fringe. Diaz’s autograph is hand-signed in pencil at the bottom of the illustration.

The edges of the artwork have been cut unevenly but it remains in very good overall condition.
