A hand-drawn Mariano Diaz sketch of Archeptolemus (Nigel Terry) from the production of Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 mythical epic Troy. The ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta did battle to control the Aegean Sea. Archeptolemus was the Trojan High Priest to whom Priam (Peter O’Toole), King of Troy, turned for advice.

The costume was designed by Academy Award®-nominated costume designer Bob Ringwood and rendered by Diaz in graphite on paper. Labelled “55”, this sketch shows a front view of Archeptolemus, rod in hand. The costume features a floor-length chiton undergarment with arm fastenings, an epiblema shawl and a tall, banded headpiece with a broad collar. Archeptolemus is depicted wearing a forehead jewel and an ornate pendant necklace. Diaz’s autograph is hand-signed in pencil at the bottom of the illustration.

The edges of the artwork have been cut unevenly but it remains in very good overall condition.
