A Mariano Diaz hand-drawn Achilles (Brad Pitt) design idea from the production of Wolfgang Petersen's 2004 historical war epic Troy.

The costumes in Troy were designed by Academy Award and Oscar-nominated costume designer Bob Ringwood and rendered by concept artist Mariano Diaz in graphite. Labelled ‘53’, this rough costume design sketch has been hand-drawn on thin layout paper and shows the initial ideas for Achilles' armour, including the crested helmet, geometric panelled body armour, shield and sword. A handwritten note in the top right corner reads ‘Brad Pitt ideas for armour’ whilst Diaz’s autograph is hand-signed in pencil at the bottom of the illustration. This costume concept differs slightly from the final design seen on screen.

The artwork exhibits minor creasing and smudges from production use, and the edges have been cut unevenly. Otherwise remains in very good overall condition.
