A Mole Richardson geared tripod head from Tippett Studio. After completing his work on Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Phil Tippett created Tippett Studio with his partner Jules Roman. The studio specializes in stop-motion and CG animation. Geared heads are regularly used in film production to pan and tilt cameras.

Made of brass and painted black, this geared head consists of a semicircle wedge with gear-toothed bottom edges that lock below two small wheels and into a geared mechanism. Turning the gears slowly tilts the head above. Aluminum brackets, an aluminum gear with a rubber belt and a wooden guard have been added as modifications, likely to attach a small motor. A metal plate with the Mole Richardson logo is bolted onto each side.

The item shows paint scuffing and general wear from use throughout leaving the item in fair condition. Dimensions: 17” x 15” x 10” (43 cm x 38 cm x 25.5 cm)
