Lobo plants himself wide and squares up, fists balled, teeth bared, the intergalactic bounty hunter in full brawling stance from "The Main Man Part II" of Superman: The Animated Series. By this point in the two-parter Lobo and Superman have already gone from hunter and quarry to reluctant allies, both of them snared by the double-crossing Preserver, the Czarnian discovering he is the last of his own kind because he wiped the rest out himself. This is Lobo with nothing left to do but fight his way out, and the pose tells you he is enjoying it.

He was the show's loose cannon, a foul-mouthed biker dropped into the gleaming art-deco Metropolis that the Warner Bros. team built for Superman in 1996, and the contrast was the whole joke. Few villains in the series got to chew the scenery the way the Main Man did.

This is an original production cel set over a studio-printed photographic background. The production numbers and start-pose notes are written across the top edge, and the Warner Bros. Animation Art seal sits at upper right. It is signed in the lower right by Dan Riba, who directed the episode, and the accompanying studio certificate confirms the signature and ties the cel to this exact episode.

Lobo turned up across the animated DC universe more than once, but this is him at his original source, drawn for the episode that introduced him to the series. Caught mid-snarl, fists up, he is exactly the character the show fans remember.
