A Morita MK I shell from Paul Verhoeven’s classic science fiction film Starship Troopers. Recruited into the Earth Federation’s Mobile Infantry, high schooler Johnny Rico (Casper Van Dien) goes through the trials of service within the Federation military as war with the alien Arachnids takes him from Earth to the far corners of the galaxy.
This style of futuristic combat rifle was used by Troopers within the Mobile Infantry during their battles with the Arachnids. Made from fibreglass, this rifle consists of only the shell of the weapon. This shell was used to cover a real Ruger Mini-14 which fired blanks. Split in two halves, the fibreglass body is held together with screws throughout and a metal ringlet is present for adding a strap. This Morita shows some signs of wear, such as some chipping and scratches to the exterior, but remains in otherwise good production-used condition.
