A Jaffa Warrior Costume from the hit television series Stargate-SG1. The Jaffa are a warrior race who act as foot soldiers to an alien race called the Goa'uld. As the main adversaries to the SG-teams, they can be seen throughout the series seven year run wearing these ornate uniforms that are instantly recognizable to the series.
The tunic worn underneath the armor is made from woven cotton which was painted with silver producing the appearance of high tech chainmail. Worn over the tunic is a vest made of durable nylon fabric with silver piping along the sides. The vest has been marked for use by many actors over the run of the series, and is fitted with a heavy duty zipper on the front, along with multiple fabric loops on the front and back to support the armor. The skirt was crafted with silver painted leather but features a waistline tailored out of nylon. Marked for use by “Rod Shaw,” the skirt is worn using suspenders, and includes laced sides as well as a section of decorative metal chainmail on the front.
The armor plated pieces of the costume were created from dense foam rubber which was painted primarily silver with accents of gold. The chest and back plates give the appearance of layered armor, and include multiple ties inside of each. Both pieces have been connected together with long strips of Velcro that work as adjustable suspenders. The armor worn over the shoulders has been decoratively carved out, and holds in place using snap button loops on the front and back as well as nylon loops over each shoulder. The greaves for the legs feature a decorative appearance etched into the foam rubber and include a section of silver painted leather at the bottom. These greaves have been labeled as “Teal’c Double,” and tighten together using the tie located at the back. The wrist guards feature ornate detail and have been labeled as “O.L. Bramble,” they are each made from two pieces that are tied together at the sides. The belt is marked as “Mike Sounders” and has decorative Jaffa etching throughout. The front of the belt is equipped with small metal clips which hold the belt together using a front buckle with clasps that was labeled as “Reese Alexander.” The boots are basic black leather work boots which have been painted over in silver, and have been marked as “Floyd Faircrest.”
The tunic is listed as a size 40” (US), the vest a 43”, the skirt as a size 35” waist, the belt a size 38”, and the boots as a 9 – 9 ½ (US). The silver paint on the tunic and boots has worn over time however the costume remains in overall good condition.
