A DH-17 rebel trooper blaster from the production of Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Rebel soldiers wielded their silver-tipped blasters throughout both Star Wars: A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back.
Well-known to fans of the franchise, the Rebel trooper blasters were the first weapons seen used by the Rebels when they protected Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from Stormtroopers in the original film's opening sequence, and later appeared in Empire during the Hoth battle sequence, as well as in popular publicity photos featuring Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). The actual props used in the two films were of slightly different styles, with different detailing components.
The blasters made for Empire were all fiberglass castings from a master comprised of a Sterling SMG with a Single Point sight and various model kit greeblies for detailing. This is a production-made example that was created for the film but ultimately left unfinished. The production team painted this example the base silver layer and installed the reflective lenses in the front and back of the scope; the black paint layer was added and weathered more recently for display purposes. The blaster is a very clean casting with the serial number of the base Sterling SMG still visible on the top of its magazine housing.
This piece originated from an Empire crew member. It exhibits some wear from use and age, including scuffing, paint loss, and chipping throughout the body. Dimensions: 17" x 9" x 4" (43.25 cm x 23 cm x 10.25 cm)
Estimate: $10,000 - 20,000
