A Hoth Rebel trooper hat from Irvin Kershner's Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. This style of cold-weather cap was worn by various Rebel officers and soldiers, including Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford), during the scenes set on the ice planet Hoth. Exterior Hoth sequences were filmed in Finse, Norway, with interior scenes shot at Elstree Studios in the United Kingdom.

The film is considered by many fans to be the best film within the Star Wars franchise. It was nominated for three Academy Awards and won for Best Sound, plus a Special Achievement Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. It was the highest grossing film of 1980 and remains the 13th highest grossing film of all time when adjusted for inflation.

Designed by the legendary John Mollo, the hat is made of beige cotton and features a stiff front peak, ear-covering flaps, a chin strap, and a series of cotton flaps and loops designed to secure troopers' goggle straps. The lower portion of the hat, which covers the ears and back of the neck, is decorated with a diamond-shaped quilted pattern. An accurately-made replica resin comlink, constructed from the same real world components, is attached to the left ear flap via a magnet.

The piece exhibits age- and use-related wear, including minor discoloration and staining consistent with residue from old adhesive.
