A replica statue of the astromech droid R2-D2 from Star Wars. Created by the legendary Don Post Studios, this full-size statue was the deluxe version created with internal lighting to closely replicate the appearance of the droid in-use in the films. Such was the accuracy of the deluxe Artoo that Lucasfilm used the replicas extensively for promotion and display, and continue to do so to this day.
The droid is made of fibreglass with some metal dress-up components. Rubber hosing has been attached around the feet to add to the realistic appearance of the piece. Electronics are activated via a wired plug that requires a UK mains electricity supply to operate. Engravings and component markings within the piece denote this as number 14 in the production run, an incredibly low number since the first of the run were often secured by Lucasfilm for promotional purposes. The base of two feet feature labels detailing Lucasfilm copyright details, with both dated 1999. The droid is presented on a silver display base which features an original Don Post presentation plaque marked with the number 63.

One of the rarest and most accurate replicas of Artoo to date, the statue can be disassembled into several components and remains in very good condition, with minimal wear to the paint finish on the piece. The statue measures 101.5cm x 94.5cm x 113cm (40” x 37.25” x 44.5”) when displayed, with Artoo measuring 70cm x 66cm x 105cm (40” x 37.25” x 44.5”) and the base measuring 101.5cm x 94.5cm x 8cm (40” x 37.25” x 4”). The piece is supplied with an original Don Post certificate of authenticity.
