A light-up QMx replica studio-scale promotional model of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D from Gene Roddenberry's sci-fi series Star Trek: The Next Generation. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Sir Patrick Stewart) and his crew explored the final frontier aboard this 24th century Enterprise.
This lot consists of the Quantum Mechanix (QMx) convention display and sales page photography model constructed in clear gel coated fiberglass mounted to a steel endoskeletal frame. Its surface features an enamel painted ivory, gray, and mid-blue gray Aztec-pattern atop a blue-gray base coat, with additional enamel painted yellow umber and dark gray detailing. Over 100 LED lights emulate functioning engines, formation signals, a deflector dish, and windows. The model is backed by sound features for phaser and torpedo sounds, all controlled via a keyless fob attached to a translucent neon green acrylic isolinear chip. Its underside features a separate power connection and features two acrylic supports with multiple rods and layered combadge insignia placed on a black acrylic inlay in the shape of the Engineering "pool table" console atop a gray painted MDF base. The display features two dark pewter-color painted resin-cast Starfleet badges, an aluminum plaque featuring "QMx FX Cinema Arts" with its "0 of 50" edition number, and an unsigned aluminum signature plate. A wood shipping crate with black painted "NCC-1701-D" on the side, and custom-cut egg-crate foam layers, is included for conveyance. The lot exhibits scuffing, scratching, missing decals, cracking, and edge wear. Dimensions: (on base) 36" x 28" x 11" (91.5 x 71.25 cm x 28 cm)
