A launch key made for the production of Jonathan Frakes’ Star Trek: Insurrection. This key was featured in the film’s original ending. In this ending, Picard deceives Ru’afo and steals the key, ruining the villain’s plans to restart the radiation harvester and end its self-destruct sequence. Picard may be seen holding this key as he leaves the defeated Ru’afo behind.
Made from a plastic tube that contains a metal formation in the middle and on both ends, this piece also contains electronics that have not been tested. The electronics are visible inside the plastic tube and the wires lead to a button that is inside a metal cylinder. Finally, each metal ending houses red lights that would flash intermittently if the piece was turned on. This piece shows minimal wear and is in overall great condition.
