A gladiatorial helmet used in the acclaimed Starz TV series Spartacus: Gods Of The Arena. Chronicling the bloody history of the house and ludus of Lentulus Batiatus (John Hannah), the story follows the rise of Oenomaus (Peter Mensah) to the rank of Doctore, the depravity of Batiatus’ wife Lucretia (Lucy Lawless) and the trials of Crixus (Manu Bennett), Ashur (Nick E Tarabay) and the deadly Gannicus (Dustin Clare).
This helmet can be seen in episode six, “The Bitter End”, being used by a gladiator opposing Batiatius’ new retiarius, Gnaeus (Raicho Vasilev). Succumbing to Gnaeus’ net skills, the gladiator soon loses his stride, and is quickly speared through his faceplate by the net man.

The helmet is made of vinyl and fibreglass with a paint finish made to replicate the look of worn bronze. Made with a hinged faceplate, the helmet has a large crest that runs from the forehead to the back of the neck, with bronze horses adorning the crown. The whole helmet has been intentionally distressed to give it the appearance of a helmet well-used in the arena.

The helmet remains in an excellent production-used condition with only minor wear from its time spent on the production and storage, and comes beautifully displayed on a battery-operated light-up display base featuring the show’s title in red and white. The imposing display measures approximately 60cm (23.5”) in height.
