Preliminary artwork of Spider Rock hand-painted by chief matte artist Matthew Yuricich for Brian Gibson's Poltergeist II: The Other Side. In the opening sequence, Taylor (Will Sampson) climbed Spider Rock and saw a vision of Reverend Henry Kane (Julian Beck) in the form of the Beast hunting the Freelings.

This preliminary artwork was created by Yuricich while designing the matte painting used in the long shot of Taylor atop the rock formation. The film later received an Academy Award® nomination for Best Visual Effects, including for those Yuricich and team created under the supervision of their BOSS Film Studios founder Richard Edlund.

The painting is rendered in mixed media on illustration board and finished with a black wash for live-action photography. The board itself is backed with masonite, applied with a vellum cover and black tape on its lower border, and mounted inside a custom black frame with a metal hanging wire on the reverse. The tape exhibits some tearing, the sheet exhibits some scratching, and the board exhibits black paint splotches on its reverse. Dimensions: 20.25" x 15.25" x 1.25" (51.5 cm x 39 cm x 3 cm)

Yuricich was the captain of the Twentieth-Century Fox baseball team and was presented with a Yankees team-signed ball by Marilyn Monroe, who was married to Yankee star Joe DiMaggio at the time.
