A partially eaten Clayton (Gary Busey) Mechanical SFX Puppet from the campy 2012 prehistoric monster film, Piranha 3DD. In the film, after the events of Lake Victoria the prehistoric piranhas make their way to a new waterpark.
In the beginning of the film, two fisherman are walking through a lake to recover a dead cow, when the cow is discovered, it is filled with piranha eggs which hatch upon their arrival. Although this bust was unused for the film due to the production deciding to use a different gag, it was expertly crafted by the production for use in this scene. The bust was made using a dense foam base that is covered with silicone skin. The face of the body has been ripped to shreds from piranhas, and was made with gruesome detail. The bones for the skull are made from resin, and have been lightly covered with silicone to detail the muscle tissue. Located at the back of the neck is a steel bar with a handle which moves the head, and running alongside the steel bar is a cable with a loop that opens the mouth when pulled. Attached to the back of the bust is an additional steel rigging that allows the bust to be mounted.
This item measures approximately 19” x 11” x 22” (48cm x 28cm x 56cm) and features minor wear from production use, notably seen where the wig was removed from the head leaving behind adhesive residue (see photos), but remains in overall good condition.
