A framed limited edition hand-painted cel from the 1940 Walt Disney animated film Pinocchio. This cel was published by Walt Disney Art Classics in 1996 and shows Jiminy Cricket acting as Pinocchio's moral guardian, telling the puppet "always let your conscience be your guide". Disney artists used traditional techniques, hand-inking lines onto acetate cels over original animation drawings and then hand-painting the artwork using 30 Disney-approved acrylic colours. The printed background was also reproduced by a Disney artist using the original paintings, sketches and frames as reference. This example is numbered "140/350" and bears a Walt Disney Company seal in the lower right corner. It comes mounted within an original Disney frame with plexiglass and features a hanging wire on the reverse. The lot is accompanied by The Walt Disney Company certificate of authenticity.
