A Karakasa Demon Mask created for use in the Japanese TV series Ninja Sentai Kakuranger, the popular show in which the American Mighty Morphin Power Ranger series is partially based on. Also known as the Chinese Umbrella Queen, Karakasa has two forms: a friendly human face and an evil demon face, this mask being a version of the latter.
The mask is made of foam rubber featuring a face painted white, blue, and red with eyes are made of blue transparent plastic. The top of the mask’s head has been created to resemble a blue and white umbrella folded back with numerous soft blue spikes around the perimeter underneath. The back of the full-face mask features zipper as well as Velcro closures.
This piece has some wear throughout; the foam around the neck has begun to dry and crack due to production use and age, leaving the piece in overall fair condition.
