A two-piece, 12-foot-long Jupiter II filming model from Stephen Hopkins' Lost in Space. Based on the classic 1965 television series of the same name, Lost in Space followed the Robinson family and their pilot, Major Don West (Matt LeBlanc), after their space vessel, the Jupiter II, was sent wildly off course due to the sabotage of Dr. Zachary Smith (Gary Oldman).

Large model miniatures were utilized for the sequence directed by model unit director and visual effects co-supervisor Steve Begg in which the Jupiter II smashed through rocks and ice. To simulate the effect of a massive ship hurtling through harsh terrain, a Jupiter II model was attached via a steel cable to a vehicle and pulled down a 100-foot ramp custom-designed to resemble a vast frozen landscape at a speed of around 30 miles-per-hour.

Constructed by model unit supervisor Jose Granell and his team, this ornately detailed filming model was acquired from New Line Cinema and originates from Planet Hollywood. Made primarily of woven fiberglass with wood, resin, and plastic elements, as well as an interior metal support bar, this spacecraft was intentionally separated into two pieces for portability and handling. Its hull is covered in debossed simulated paneling with various tech greebles embedded throughout and large simulated thrusters on its back.

The ship is labeled in white-and-blue "JUPITER-2," "J2," "and Allied Space Organisation of Mexico America and Canada" decals throughout the hull. A power cord believed to have previously powered lighting in the thrusters or cockpit also remains, though the ship is currently nonfunctional.

The lot shows evidence of intentional weathering by production to appear well-used in space together with wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age, including detached and missing pieces (such as window panes), adhesive residue and lifted tape, and chipping and cracks throughout.
