A screen-matched 12-foot Jupiter II filming model from Stephen Hopkins' Lost in Space. Based on the classic 1965 television series of the same name, Lost in Space followed the Robinson family and their pilot Major Don West (Matt LeBlanc) after their space vessel, the Jupiter 2, was sent wildly off course due to the sabotage of Dr. Zachary Smith (Gary Oldman). Unique distress patterns and the alignment of decals around the cockpit windows and port side screen-match this model to close-ups of the Jupiter 2 crashing into a frozen planet.

Lost in Space was nominated for six Saturn Awards, including Best Supporting Actor for Gary Oldman's performance as Smith. The effects heavy science-fiction production enlisted the skills of several different visual effects companies, including Jim Henson's Creature Shop, which built the reimagined Robot voiced by Dick Tufeld, reprising his fan-favorite role from the original series.

This large-scale model, built by model unit supervisor Jose Granell and his team, was primarily used for the crash sequence directed by Steve Begg, where the Jupiter II was seen careening through harsh terrain, smashing through rocks and ice. To achieve the effect, the model was pulled down a 100-foot-long ramp detailed to resemble a vast frozen landscape by a steel cable attached to a vehicle moving around 25 to 30 miles-per-hour. It was additionally used for the overhead shot where digitally-added lightning hit and spread over the hull of the ship immediately preceding the crash.

This oval-shaped spacecraft model is made primarily of woven fiberglass with wood, resin, and plastic elements. Its hull is covered in debossed simulated paneling painted in multiple shades of gray with various tech greebles embedded throughout. It features large thrusters on the black and raised dome-like elements, including one with windows representing the cockpit on the front. It is labeled in white and blue throughout the hull with "JUPITER-2," "277-2211-10," "Allied Space Organisation of Mexico America and Canada," and "J2." A black power cord with a yellow plug is present on the model, which likely previously powered lighting in the thrusters or cockpit, but any current functionality remains untested. It exhibits wear throughout from use and age, including scuffing, discoloration, a large hole and crack on the top, detached and missing pieces leaving holes in some areas, adhesive residue and tape, deep abrasions on the front and around the cockpit, and a missing windowpane in cockpit.
