A hyena mask from Donald Sturrock’s 1995 TV movie adaptation of Roald Dahl’s twisted tale Little Red Riding Hood.
The woods are full of dangers, full of lamb and deer-napping pigs, laughing hyenas and hungry wolves, but never underestimate a little girl in a red hood.
Masks were worn by the supporting animal cast alongside Little Red Riding Hood (Julie Walters). The opening seen depicts a vile pig and hyena kidnapping young deer and sheep. The mask is fibreglass and resin with glass eyes and faux fur, there is an inner support helmet on the inside. The mask shows wear from production use, most notably just under the nose where the lip has come away, revealing the structure underneath. Overall it remains in a good condition.
Materials: Resin, Glass, Man-Made Woven Fibres, Ferrous Metals.
