A "Live Long and Prosper" pendant modelled after the "Live Long and Prosper" hand gesture Leonard Nimoy famously made in his role as the Vulcan Spock. Leonard Nimoy starred as Spock in the original 1966 Star Trek series and continued to reprise throughout the franchise until 2013. For generations of fans, Nimoy's portrayal of Spock has inspired not only a love of science and exploration, but also a desire for peace and tolerance, celebrating the "Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations" that was the basis of Vulcan philosophy.
While a number of custom-designed pendants like this one were made, this particular pendant is one of only 10 that were flown into space on a Blue Origin flight in 2021. The other space-flown pendants are being awarded to select individuals who have either supported Leonard Nimoy's legacy or the spirit of the Live Long and Prosper symbol. So far, pendants have been awarded to Mayam Bialik, Billie Jean King, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, Levar Burton, and most recently, Whoopi Goldberg, who was awarded hers on November 1st 2024. This auction is the first time one of the pendants from the 2021 Blue Origin flight has ever been made available to the public.
