Hawkeye's (Daniel Day-Lewis) stunt knife used in the production of Michael Mann's gorgeous 1992 historical epic The Last of the Mohicans.

The film sees three Native American trappers, including the adopted Hawkeye, work to protect the daughters of a British Colonel during the middle of the French and Indian War.

This knife and others like it were made for the production and were held by the character of Hawkeye. He used the knives when in battle, as well as using guns, axes and other weapons. When not fighting, the knife is sheathed in a pouch that tucks into his belts.

This knife is a stunt version of the ones carried in the film, meaning it was made for fight scenes and any situation where it would be too dangerous to feature a metal knife. It features a rubber blade, painted to look like metal, and a foam handle painted to resemble bone. Around the handle is a strip of leather to act as a grip.

The item features some wear from production use and age, including scuffs, scratches, and considerable areas where the paint has come away, revealing the plain rubber or foam beneath. Despite this the piece remains in a fair condition.
