Aurelius' (Colin Firth) Dress Armour Sword used in the 2007 action adventure The Last Legion. The kindly commander in the Roman army can be seen with his elaborate sword early in the movie before rebellion and assassination send him and his closest companions on a quest to rescue young Caesar Romulus (Thomas Sangster). The typically Roman metal sword has a highly polished blade that glints in the light and tapers only at the very end. The handle and pommel are a combination of wood and yellow resin, with inlaid brass decoration, rivets and a majestic lion's head on both sides of the hilt. It sits inside an equally majestic scabbard made from wood bound in black leather, complete with a lions head tip, brass metal bands and “IV” at the very top. There is a black leather belt attached which is covered in decorative metal strips secured with rivets and fastened with a metal buckle. An excellent piece of weaponry from the movie.
