This is a very scarce post-war first-release Japanese poster for the classic King Kong. The beautiful image is different than any other country and is one of perhaps a handful to have survived. We are very proud to present this rare example.

The poster has been folded horizontally three times and has one vertical fold. A slight sliver of paper is missing at the very end of the upper vertical fold, and a small chip is missing from the upper right corner. A pinhole is in each corner, and the edges show minor wear.

With Willis O'Brien's astonishing, characterful stop-motion, King Kong left '30s audiences awestruck. Still, it also proved hugely influential, popularising the monster movie and inspiring the likes of Ray Harryhausen and, years later, Peter Jackson.
