An SFX Aston Martin traction wheel from John Glen's Bond film The Living Daylights. James Bond (Timothy Dalton) and Kara (Maryam d'Abo) drove a weaponised Aston Martin V8 Vantage while fleeing Russia to Austria, with the KGB in hot pursuit. A total of 11 cars were used during filming, only three of which were drivable: an unmodified car, a stunt car and an SFX car.

This traction wheel is based on a Pirelli P Zero tyre and would have been used on one of the SFX cars. It comprises a black fibreglass tyre featuring a number of intentionally made small holes, and one side of the tyre is uncovered, revealing an accessible interior.

The interior includes a metal frame, retractable metal spikes and plastic tubing. These retractable spikes would have threaded through the tyre's holes when operated by air hydraulics via the plastic tubing. This can be seen on screen when Bond deploys the tyres after driving onto a frozen lake. The wheel exhibits some scuffs and paint wear from production use, and rusting to the metal from age. From the personal collection of Peter Nelson, previously displayed at his two museums, "The Cars of the Stars" and "The Bond Museum" in Keswick, Cumbria, until they closed in 2011.
