A clapperboard from the production of Michael Caton-Jones’ 1997 action film The Jackal.

Declan Mulqueen (Richard Gere) is an imprisoned IRA fighter who is the only person who can help find a mysterious assassin (Bruce Willis) before he takes out a high profile target.

This iconic symbol of the movie industry is from the production, despite the slightly misleading title of ‘The Day of the Jackal’ on the board. The Jackal is a loose remake of Fred Zinnemann’s 1973 classic and The Day of the Jackal was a working title during production, before being simplified.

It is predominantly plastic with wooden clappers and a metal hinge. The clapper features a black and white arrow design. The names of the director and camera operator are engraved in black lettering on the board, along with the working title. Faded marker pen indicated that this was last used for Slate 32, Take 2. There is wear from production use, such as scuffs, scratches and other faded pen markings, but it remains in an otherwise good condition.
