A mermaid maquette made for Steven Spielberg’s 1991 fantasy film Hook. Having forgotten his past, grown-up lawyer Peter Banning (Robin Williams) returns to Neverland to rescue his kidnapped children from the dreadful pirate Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). After Peter falls off the plank of Hook’s Jolly Roger, he is rescued by a group of mermaids who give him oxygen by kissing him. This concept maquette shows a brown haired mermaid lying across a large rock. Unlike the final mermaids seen in the film, this concept is presented topless with her breasts exposed. The maquette is made of foam and has been hand painted. This item shows minor wear due to production use and age, with small cracks in the foam around the base of the rock, however the piece remains in overall very good condition. Dimensions: 24" x 14" x12" (60 cm x 35 cm x 30 cm)
