A mechanical ape underskull from Hugh Hudson's drama Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes. This underskull was covered in a foam latex skin during the production; however the skin has since deteriorated to a large degree. The brittle latex is still attached to the underskull throughout much of the face and is detailed with hand punched hair. This underskull features lifelike resin teeth, articulating lip flaps, and a fabric lining around the inner mouth. The teeth are detailed with imperfections and stained to appear natural. The forehead is marked for Frances D'Arcy, who portrayed an ape in the film. The underskull itself is in fair condition while showing wear from the production. The foam latex on the underskull is in extremely delicate condition and prone to damage due to its age and brittle state. Dimensions: 8" x 7" x 12" (20 cm x 18 cm x 30 cm)
