A Zubrowka police uniform from Wes Anderson's Oscar®-winning comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Spanning over 50 years, the film tells the story of famed hotel concierge Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes) and his protégé Zero Mustafa (Tony Revolori) as they battle against the Zubrowka authorities and a dead widow’s family to claim the famous painting “Boy With Apple” – as well as their freedom.
This costume and others like it were worn by the Zubrowka police in various scenes throughout the film, most notably when Henckels (Edward Norton) and his men inspect the train carrying Zero and Gustave.
The uniform consists of a military style jacket, trousers, ski cap, puttees and boots. The set also includes a belt with ammunition pouches and shoulder straps. The jacket, trousers and cap are made from the same grey woollen fabric and feature faux-silver buttons. The jacket features epaulettes with the number ‘66’ on both and two black collar tabs. The front of the jacket has the name ‘H. Moritz’ embroidered and there is a label inside the trousers with the text ‘Jürgen’ handwritten. The cap also features a ‘Zubrowka’ crown emblem at the front along with two faux-silver buttons. The jacket and trousers are marked “W 54” with the boots marked as UK size 10.
With some marks and wear on the boots, the costume remains in a very good condition.
