A Thracian-style gladiator helmet and armour components from Ridley Scott's Academy Award®-winning historical epic Gladiator. Maximus (Russell Crowe) teamed up with Juba (Djimon Hounsou) in the Zucchabar arena to kill gladiators. Costume designer Janty Yates won an Academy Award® for her work on the film, one of five the film earned, including Best Picture.

This lot consists of one helmet, one wrist gauntlet and a suit of body armour. All three pieces are made of urethane resin, painted to resemble metal. The helmet is elaborately shaped, with a broad rim and a griffon detail across the top of the skull, as well as faces sculpted into either side. The front of the helmet features a grate in two pieces, with leather chin straps inside. The helmet is foam-lined for the wearer's comfort. The wrist strap is lined with felt and leather. It laces up, and features dimple details across its surface. The body armour comprises a conjoined breastplate, shoulder plate and thigh piece, with leather straps and a partial suede lining. Each of the pieces is deliberately weathered, and exhibit some paint damage.
