Maximus Decimus Meridius' (Russell Crowe) training costume from Ridley Scott's Gladiator. Maximus wore his costume when he trained among Proximo's (Oliver Reed) men to be a gladiator in the Colosseum, where Emperor Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) was later forced to let the former general live by the favor of the Colosseum spectators.

Maximus' training costume was designed by Janty Yates, who won the Academy Award® for Best Costume Design for her work. In a commemorative video for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2015, Yates explained that a large amount of multiples were needed for every Maximus costume to accurately reflect the sweat, grime, and blood that gladiators were subjected to in training and the ring.

The beige wool training tunic in this costume is lined with linen, a specific addition Yanty's team made to Maximus' costumes, while his fellow gladiators' tunics were unlined. Also included is a brown leather Cornejo training belt of the style worn by other gladiators in the film marked "M 41 1/2." The tunic is intentionally distressed throughout by production to appear well-worn and ragged, while the belt exhibits discoloration.
