General Maximus Decimus Meridius' (Russell Crowe) metal sword and scabbard from Ridley Scott's Gladiator. Maximus carried his general's sword and scabbard in the opening battle scenes as he led his Roman army against the Barbarian tribes in the forests of Germania.

Gladiator was one of the most successful films of 2000, placing frequently on lists such as Empire's 100 Best Movies Of All Time, and won five Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Visual Effects, Best Sound, and Best Costume Design. It was also nominated for an additional seven categories, as well as five Golden Globes, of which it won two. This sword is made of metal with a wood and resin hilt, and a leather-wrapped wooden scabbard with moulded metal accents. The sword's hilt features brass-colour floral detailing as well as a "SPQR'' debossing on the guard, and an off-white grip to resemble ivory inlaid with a copper-colour dinar. The scabbard has an attached leather belt strap. This lot exhibits discolouration on both items, denting, and adhesive residue on the scabbard.
