This lot will be sold on Tuesday, 1st December (day 1 of the auction.) Lots 1-463 will be sold on day 1 (lots 464-913 will be sold on day 2). The auction will begin at 2:00 pm GMT. A hero officer’s sword and scabbard from Ridley Scott’s historical epic Gladiator. Officers wore their swords on their hips during the opening battle against the Barbarian tribes in the forests of Germania.

The sword is made of aluminium, with a wooden hilt decorated with brass leaves and a face. The sheath is made predominantly of wood, with a green suede cover, brass adornments and a leather cross strap, allowing it to hang at the wearer's hip. The blade has been intentionally tarnished to look time-worn, and there is some additional wear from production use and age, including scuffing and scratches. The suede on the sheath is discoloured and peeling in patches, and also features some glue residue. Dimensions: 82 cm x 9.5 cm x 6 cm (32 1/4" x 3 3/4" x 2 1/4")
