A Sarris guard (Michael Walley) costume from Dean Parisot's 1999 sci-fi comedy, Galaxy Quest. After their sci-fi television series is abruptly cancelled, the struggling former actors of Galaxy Quest are called upon by real life aliens to assist them in resolving a conflict with the villainous Sarris. Costumes like this were worn by members of Sarris' (Robin Sachs) guard throughout the film.
This complete costume was worn by Michael Walley and includes zip-up suit, cowl, tunic, cod piece, face mask, helmet, boots, gloves, various pads, and ammo pouch. The zip-up suit is made from spandex and is avocado green with dark green spots, stirrup straps at the foot, and thumb straps at the wrists to keep the suit in place. Puffy Paint has been drizzled over the arms, sides, and legs. Inside the suit, a tag reads "Michael Walley." The cowl matches the suit, with "Mike Walley #10" written inside. The textured tunic has shaped foam pads over mesh fabric. It includes adjustable shoulder straps, as well as straps at the side. The cod-piece was made from an athletic supporter covered in green spotted fabric, and has a waist band with thong strap to keep it centered. The front is covered by the same puffy paint texture as the suit. Hanging from the waist band, dreadlock-like straps hang down. "Michael Walley #10" and "L" are written inside. Also included are several pads which would have been worn on the knees, shoulders, shin, and calf.
Finishing out this outfit, a face mask made from plastic "reeds", a helmet featuring reed like "hair", gloves, and boots (size 44) have been included. Accessories including a communicator made from plastic with a faux-reptilian arm band, reptile skin ammo pouch, and two ammo clips are included in the costume.
This item features some signs of wear from production use and age, including some minor deterioration of the materials, but remain in overall very good condition.
