A Meanwhile City Cleric 'LAH 1W7' costume from the production of Gerald McMorrow’s 2008 fantasy drama Franklyn. The binder contains a set of storyboards and a shooting script.
Divided between the parallel worlds of today’s London and the religious dystopia of Meanwhile City, the film paints the picture of four people struggling to cope with life problems in a religious dystopia. Vigilante Jonathan Preest (Ryan Phillippe) tirelessly chases his nemesis, "the Individual". Troubled artist Emilia (Eva Green) plots a rebellion that could turn deadly. Heartbroken young Milo (Sam Riley) seeks real love – and pious Peter (Bernard Hill) desperately looks for his missing son amongst London's homeless.
The Ministry Clerics can be seen wearing this style of costume during the scenes that follow the masked vigilante detective John Preest in the feverously religious alternate reality known as Meanwhile City. These sinister costumes consisted of a custom made black trench coat (size 42) with pleated skirts, epaulettes, the Cleric’s number on either side of the collar (LAH 1W7) and large ornate metal buttons; a pair of tight fitting black trousers (size 34”), black leather belt and metal buckle, black leather gloves, black leather ankle boots (UK size 10) and a pair of black leather gaitors (size L). Also included is a pair of black sunglasses which still have some of the white metallic makeup seen covering all the Cleric’s faces, and a black and silver Ministry badge attached to the chest.
The costume has some wear from production use and age, but overall remains in an excellent condition.
