Printed Vermithrax Pejorative dragon designs and concepts from Matthew Robbins and Hal Barwood’s fantasy film Dragonslayer. The young apprentice, Galen, was sent to slay the terrifying dragon Vermithrax Pejorative. David Bunnett is credited for the film’s Graphics and did extensive concept art to help sell the film and did early concepts of the dragon. Phil Tippett made slight adjustments to Bunnett’s design to make its proportions more realistic given the creatures size. The combination of the new go-motion technology, extravagant large-scale puppets and a beloved design led to Vermithrax Pejorative being considered one of the best, if not the best, dragons of all time.Tippett was nominated for Best Visual Effects for his work on this film at the 54th Academy Awards^®.

This is a set of one blue line design of a ¾ scale walking Vermithrax Pejorative puppet, a dragon wing blue line design printed on two pages and taped together, two dragon concept prints on two pages and three pages taped together respectively, a dragon head concept print and a head and tail concept print. The prints that are taped together feature small blue pencil marks near the dragon’s head and the ¾ scale blue line is marked ‘Walking Dragon from England’ in black handwritten pencil in the top left corner. Both blue lines are marked ‘Dragonslayer’ in black ink on the backside, the scale design also reads ‘Design Outline.’

The items all show several creases from storage and the scale blue line has a large tear across it that has been taped on the backside leaving the lot in fair condition. Dimensions (largest): 30” x 54 ½” (76 cm x 87.75 cm); dimensions (smallest): 8 ½” x 11” (21.5 cm x 28 cm)
