Conan the Barbarian's (Arnold Schwarzenegger) shirt from John Milius' Conan the Barbarian. Taking King Osric's (Max von Sydow) quest, Conan journeyed to the Temple of Set to both rescue the princess and take revenge against Thulsa Doom (James Earl Jones). He wore his shirt beneath chainmail during the journey, and where he encountered the Wizard, Akiro (Mako), who would later help heal the injured Conan.
Costume designer John Bloomfield, working closely with production designer Ron Cobb, avoided any single historical reference point for the film's look, instead blending Mongolian and Viking influences into an invented primitive aesthetic built from studded leather, furs, and chainmail. Conan's own wardrobe evolved throughout the film, with the titular barbarian wearing multiple variations of armor and leather garments at different stages in his journey.
This lot consists of one leather-paneled shirt, affixed throughout with metal grommets and rivets. This lot shows wear consistent with on-set use, handling, and age.
