A Ray Harryhausen hand-drawn sketch of Medusa with Perseus and a soldier from the production of Desmond Davis' epic fantasy adventure Clash of the Titans. This lot comes from Harryhausen's personal collection.

The sketch depicts Medusa armed with a bow, looking at a soldier, and Perseus using his shield as a mirror to see her. Due to an increased level of production responsibilities, this was one of only two key drawings produced by Harryhausen for the film.

The sketch is rendered in pencil on tracing paper, with ink used in certain places to embolden individual lines. It exhibits some minor tearing, but otherwise remains in very good condition. Dimensions: 49.5 cm x 36 cm (19.5" x 14.25")

This lot comes from the Ray & Diana Harryhausen Foundation, a collection of items from the long and illustrious career of special effects and animation legend Ray Harryhausen. Proceeds from this auction will assist with the Foundation's future projects, including the ongoing preservation of Harryhausen's creature collection.
